How long does a course take?

In general, most courses run from September to June and classes are held twice per week. The average number of classes is 70 for one academic year. However, we start courses throughout the year depending on demand and intensive courses are available also.

How long does it take to complete one level?

Usually, 70 hours is enough to advance to the next level in your language learning. However, each student is different. Some will complete their studies quicker than this, some slower. Each student will be advised and assisted in their progress throughout the year and given all help necessary to advance.

How do you determine my/my child’s level?

Every new student must attend a diagnostic test. This test will determine your level and we will advise you accordingly. The test is free of charge.

How do I enroll?

Call us on: 089 991 5486 or send us an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact us via Facebook. We will then organize a day and time for your diagnostic test.

When do I enroll?

You can enroll at any time of the year. Most courses start in September, so it is a good idea to enroll at that time in order not to miss any lessons.

What methods of teaching do you use?

We use a combination of methods. The most used method is the Communicative Approach, wherein the focus is on speaking the language. This is the most modern and widely used method in global language teaching. We also employ Task Based Learning, wherein students get the chance to make practical use of the language whilst completing various tasks.

How many students are there in one class?

The maximum number of students in one class is 8. We have many classes with fewer students than this, however.

Can I miss lessons?

The number of lessons you/your child attends is your choice. Realistically, however, if you/your child misses a large number of lessons, you/your child will struggle to keep up with the course.

Which course-books do you use?

The course-books for each course can be found here: Course Books

Are your courses in line with the shifts at the state schools?

Yes. We offer the same course in the morning and in the afternoon. This means that whatever shift your child is on, we will have a group available. When the state schools change shift, we will also change.

How do you form your groups?

From 3 years old to first grade, groups are formed according to the age of the children.

Older student’s groups are formed according to ability as opposed to age. As far as possible, we try to put students of the same age together, however, and this is usually the case. Sometimes, though, it is necessary for students of different ages but the same level of language to be put together in the same group. When students of different levels are in the same group, this makes learning difficult for everyone and we do not want this.

At what age can my child attend ABC?

Our youngest students are 3 years old.

Is there an age limit for attending ABC?

No!

When can my child start individual lessons?

Individual lessons start from first grade. Individual lessons before this age are not conducive to fostering a love of the language and are not as successful as group lessons.

I have a problem with my progress/my child’s progress. What should I do?

If you have any problems, please organize a meeting with the management. Ask at reception or call us on: 089 991 5486 or send us an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact us via Facebook.

How do I get feedback from my child’s teacher?

If you require feedback about your child, please direct your questions to the management rather than the teacher. We ask this so as to avoid any miscommunication between clients, staff and management.

Do you issue certificates for your courses?

Yes. Upon successful completion of the course, each student is awarded a certificate.

Are your certificates internationally recognized?

We issue valid certificates which may be confirmed by any interested party. We also offer international examinations with certificates from Cambridge University. You can prepare for these certificates at ABC and also attend the exam at ABC.

Can I choose the number of students in my group?

If you wish to do this, you may. This request is termed a “closed group”.
